Police recruitment.
The exercise is scheduled for JUNE 6th and will
hold at the same time in the whole federation to
avoid political and undue interference and is
planned to be transparent and the best so far.
Be informed that only successful candidates will
be contacted at the end of the Exercise.
THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW..
1. Check your Mailbox regularly..Gmail or
whatever....a mail will only be sent to
prospective candidates from Police Service
Commission.
2. Check your phone regularly...text message will
be sent to only successful candidates.
3. A computerized selection is done by the
Police Service Commission and weeded away
those with suspicious age declarations,
incomplete school record that did not tally with
original date of birth, those who submitted
incomplete data during logging in.
4. Computerized selected and contacted
candidates will be notified on a specific date for
screening at the state commands level, Only
those invited for a day meant for categories will
be considered..to avoid roundness
5.All contacted candidates should prepare to
face a board comprising Representatives of
federal character commission, Police service
commission, Senior officers from Abuja,Media,
Police commissioner,Other senior officers and
Command PPRO.
6. Candidates should not appear with Luggage as
There will be Dog sniffers, Bomb experts in the
venue.
7. Candidates will undergo aptitude tests and
physical check ups, eyesight, deformities,
portruded bellies, height and chest
measurement.etc
8.ASP and Inspectorate cadres will terminate
their screening at Force Headquarters while the
Specialists will be tested based on their skills at
the Zonal level.

VACANCY POSITION FOR BURSAR IN RIVERS STATE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, NKPOLU-OROWORUKWO, PORT HARCOURT

The Rivers State University of Science and Technology hereby invites interested persons with vast experience in Accounting procedures and University Administration to apply for the position of Bursar in the University. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

The Bursar who shall head the Bursary Department is the Chief Financial Officer of the University and shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day- to- day administration and control of the financial affairs of the University. He shall be required to perform among other functions the following: 
i) Income generation for the sustenance and development of the University. ii) Payments/Settlement of the University’s commitments; iii) Keeping of Accounts and Accounting records including those of staff and students; iv) Banking and the handling of banking related transactions; v) Staff personal emoluments including the management of loans and advances to staff; vi) The management of cash, stock and stores in the University; vii) Insurance of staff and fixed assets as well as allied financial transactions. viii) Reports and advise to management on financial matters including proposals and budgets for future development and operations of the University, etc. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS 

The person for the position of the Bursar is required to possess a minimum of B.Sc degree Second Class Lower Division in Accountancy from a recognized University with at least a minimum of 18 years post qualification experience, plus membership of any of the following professional Accounting Bodies;  ICAN, ANAN, ICMA and ACCA.

Specifically, the candidate shall be expected to:  a) Be a person of impeccable character, who is honest and against whom no serious allegation of wrong doing has been proved; b) Possess a robust health and demonstrate good public relations; c) Be innovative in terms of ideas; d) Be not more than 55 years; e) Must have a good knowledge of Accounting Software.    

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

  Remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the post of Bursar in Nigerian Universities, and as may be determined from time to time by the University Governing Council. 
METHOD OF APPLICATION  Interested candidates who meet the above conditions should submit twenty (20) copies of their application accompanied by detailed curricula vitae duly signed and dated.   The Curriculum Vitae must include the candidate’s name in full, place and date of birth, marital status, Local Government Area, number and ages of children, academic qualifications, administrative and managerial experience, membership of academic and professional bodies, names and addresses of three references and other relevant information. 

All candidates must have three (3) referees who are to forward references on them directly to the Registrar and Secretary to Council.  Such reference should be able to attest to the candidate’s capabilities as well as moral uprightness. In addition, candidates are requested to submit a Report of Medical fitness from a Government Hospital and Birth Certificate or Age Declaration. 

All shortlisted candidates will be required to make themselves available for interview on a later date. 
Applications are to be submitted under confidential cover in envelopes marked at the upper head corner “Post of Bursar”, to reach the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Rivers State University of Science and Technology, PMB 5080, Port Harcourt not later than Monday, 23rd May 2016.

Never neglect the place of hobbies in a resume

One of the most neglected parts of a resume is “Hobbies” it is usually located before the Reference. Experience and observation have shown that graduates don’t understand what a hobby is or that they don’t know how to apply it in their resume or curriculum vitae.

Like other section in a resume, hobby has a crucial part as it helps to create a spider web link to one of the sections in a resume most specially the skills and ability section.
Hobby section deserves the same time devoted when writing other section. "Many resume as failed because of this section". The question is how?

1. Your hobby above other things, tell your recruiter more about your social life.
2. What you do when you’re not working
3. How you manage your time
4. How you use your skills and ability in an informal settings
5. Your availability for team work.

With this 5 point, you can see a gap in your resume when you neglect the place of hobby.
No recruiters would want to employ a robot as employee. Hobby gives your recruiter a clearer picture of you. One of the benefit of hobby in a resume is that is can create an atmosphere for discussion with your recruiters during the job interview.
Now that you know the important of hobby, you should be careful not to lie or list all the hobbies you can think of. Three to four is enough. You might want to ask why.

If you list all the hobbies you can think about, then your recruiter might be force to think that you might never have time to do any formal work outside the work environment.
So what are you waiting for, start editing your resume if you have one already.
And remember, except you are writing a general resume (fresh graduate), try to tailor your hobby to match your job specification and not just that, make sure there is a linking or connection with your skills and ability or other section in the resume.
Example
If you write internet research as one of your skills then there should be reading or writing in your hobby... there is a link between internet research and writing/reading. This is just a sample. There can be other things which can link each other in a resume apart from the example above and below.
